Raising Chickens 2.0:  No More Coop and Run
An exploration of different techniques for raising chickens.  Some techniques eliminate the need to clean poop while you can grow your own chicken feed which the chickens harvest themselves.  Other techniques about being able to leave your chickens on their own for a week are also discussed.

Paul, I am partway through the raising chickens article and I just want to say this is a very well researched, informative, and useful compilation of information on the subject.  Have you considered publishing it as glossy 5 x 7  booklet?

Booklet?  That sounds like something that would cost money!  The nice thing about the web is that it is free-ish. 

But not all people know how to use the web.  Sell at garden shops, feed supplies.

On the islands in the Aleutian chain rats eat whole geese so I would imagine that they also kill and eat whole chickens, when they run out of eggs and chicks.

Years ago when my family went hunting for pheasants we were told that you must skin the bird & remove as much fat as you can because of pesticide build up in the fatty tissues.

Our neighbors have free range chickens on their farm land & sometimes we buy them for dinner. Do you think we should be skinning them?

What you were told is accurate.  The solution is to make sure that your chickens don't eat anything that could have pesticides.
